Seat Belt advocates and a group of first-graders gathered at the Rotunda at the state capitol Tuesday. They met with the Governor to recognize children and families who have been ‘saved by the belt’.
Governor Steve Bullock also read a story to the first graders about the importance of using seat belts. Additionally, Montana Department of Transportation director, Mike Tooley, talked to legislators about the need for a primary seat belt law in Montana. HB 49 would set a $45 ticket for anyone not wearing a seat belt after one warning.
