A firefighter Monday carrying a rope and a flotation device pushed his way through the ice in the Whitefish River to reach the dog.
The firefighter grabbed the dog by the collar and began pulling it toward the shore.
Fire department officials said in a statement Tuesday that the dog was chasing a deer when it fell into the water.
Additionally, the air temperature was about 7 degrees.
Officials say the dog was fine after it was warmed up.
Shout out to B-shift for helping this adorable dog who fell in the Whitefish River this afternoon! For those wondering, he is fine. He was warmed up, then he and his human were given a ride back to their car. 👍
