There are two National Pancake Days a year . . . one in September, and one TODAY. Or at least there USED to be two.
The one today was invented by IHOP back in 2006. But this year they’ve decided to change the name . . . so now it’s called “IHOP Free Pancake Day.”
We’re guessing they probably want to avoid the confusion. And it’s better from a marketing standpoint, because “IHOP” is right there in the name now.
They’re still offering the same deal. You can show up at participating IHOP locations anytime between 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. and get a free short stack. That’s three pancakes, which usually runs you about $5.
It’s also a fundraiser to help sick kids and eradicate cancer. So they always encourage people to donate some of the money they save.
A survey from the other Pancake Day back in September found only 7% of us don’t like pancakes. Our three favorite types are buttermilk, blueberry, and chocolate chip. And pancakes are our third-favorite breakfast food behind bacon and eggs.
