Nothing apparently kills your confidence and likability more than a selfie. That’s what a new study claims.
Researchers from Washington State University say taking a selfie doesn’t exude self confidence.
In fact, they make you appear more insecure. The more selfies, the less likable and successful other people are likely to find you.
The study also found something else: the older participants in the second group were more likely to rate all Instagram profiles poorly — signaling that young adults might be souring on the social media site as they grow older.
That said, if you want people to think you’re well-traveled and more confident, put down the selfie stick and start asking people to take more photos of you.
The study is published in the Journal of Research in Personality.
