Science On Screen creatively pairs screenings of classic, cult, science fiction, and documentary films with presentations by notable experts from the world of science and technology.
The first film is The Martian. From legendary director Ridley Scott (Alien, Prometheus) comes a gripping tale of human strength and the will to survive. During a mission to Mars, American astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead and left behind. But Watney is still alive. Against all odds, he must find a way to contact Earth in the hope that scientists can devise a rescue plan to bring him home.
Both screenings will include a discussion. Hosted by Jennifer Fowler, Assistant Director of the Montana Space Grant Consortium, and Bryan von Lossberg, President of the Missoula City Council.
Screenings are Wednesday, March 13th at 5:00 PM and Thursday, May 14th at 3pm at The Roxy Theater, 718 S. Higgins.
