MISSOULA, MT – A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, August 9 at 10:45 a.m. to kick off the 2017 Western Montana Fair. The ceremony will happen at the front gates of the Missoula County Fairgrounds. Director of Fairgrounds Development Emily Bentley, Fair sponsor Tom Severson of First Interstate Bank, artist Josh Quick and County Commissioner Jean Curtiss will all be on hand for the event.

“This is a time to recognize all of the work that has been done over the years to bring us to this point,” said Commissioner Curtiss. “By providing free admission to the fair, we can welcome everyone in the community to enjoy the investments we have made together.”

The public can enjoy lots of events after the ribbon cutting, including the Hellgate High School band leading a parade through the grounds at noon. Staff will lead a tour of the fairgrounds.

All of the fair week events are listed on the Fairgrounds’ website.
