The state’s new Heritage Center location was announced Thursday.
The Center was funded by the 2019 legislature.
It will be built on the state capital campus.
The site selection was deemed the best use of state tax dollars provided.
Additionally, an analysis of 22 possible sites left 3 options for a final decision.
The other two sites were too expensive or would require a split campus.
The state-owned site on 6th will allow valuable collections to be housed in one location.
The building committee is now tasked with moving the project into the design phase and will have the first meeting January 2020.
