Community Physician Group recently received a two-year, $200,000 grant from the Montana Healthcare Foundation.
The grant will integrate behavioral health services in their primary care clinics.
It will expand access to timely and affordable mental health and substance use treatment for as many as twenty thousand Missoulians. Additionally, it will also help residents of neighboring communities.
This initiative seeks to address the rising rates of suicide and substance use in the county by providing appropriate screening and follow-up for patients.
Research shows that people who die by suicide are more likely to have seen their primary care provider than any other health care professional shortly before their death, so primary care teams are in a unique position to prevent suicides among their patients.
