Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority Trains Are Running Late

The Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority presented an updated timeline for Montana's passenger rail line at a recent board meeting in Missoula.

Originally shooting for operation by 2030, but delays push the start to at least 2039, with full completion not expected until after 2060. Despite disappointment, officials remain hopeful. 

The rail Authority is advocating for the restoration of the North Coast Hiawatha route, running through southern Montana. The proposed route connects communities like Billings, Helena, Missoula, and Sandpoint, Idaho.
