Improved Air Quality Monitoring

Montana researchers and high schools have installed PurpleAir sensors statewide to monitor air quality, especially in rural areas affected by wildfire smoke and wood stoves.

These low-cost devices, funded by the University of Montana and the Montana DEQ, help communities track PM 2.5 pollutants in real time.

This project allows schools and local residents to make informed health decisions about outdoor activities, enhancing public health awareness in underserved areas.
