MT is 8th in USA for Energy From Renewables

With the United Nations sounding the alarm recently that global warming has reached a tipping point, Commodity dot com published a new study showing which states are more most dependent on fossil fuels. There were some surprises on the Top Ten list, including Colorado, Hawaii and Utah - all of which use fossil fuels for more than 88% of their needs. Montana is 34th -- with 74% of our energy derived from fossil fuels compared with 80% on average, nationwide. But Montana is 8th when you look at how much of our energy comes from renewables - over 25%, including wind and solar. Only Oregon, Washington, Maine, South Dakota, Idaho, Vermont and Iowa did better.
