Speech & Debate Judges Needed


Missoula County Public Schools (MCPS) is seeking a large number of volunteer judges for the Speech and Debate tournament in Missoula on February 10-11.

The Speech and Debate programs at Big Sky, Hellgate and Sentinel high schools will host the 2023 Speech and Debate National Qualifying Tournament (NSDA West) on Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11, at Sentinel High School (901 S. Ave. West, Missoula, MT 59801).

Three rounds will take place on Friday: The first round starts between 4:15 P.M. and 5:30 P.M.; the second round will start between 6 P.M. and 7:30 P.M.; and the third round will start between 8 P.M. and 8:30 P.M.

Four rounds will take place on Saturday: The first round of the day starts between 8 A.M. and 9 A.M.; the next round starts between 10 A.M. and 11 A.M.; the next round starts between 1 P.M. and 2 P.M.; and the final round will start between 2:30 P.M. and 3 P.M.

Volunteers can sign up to judge either Debate or Speech rounds, and a variety of different times are available. An optional, informational Judge Clinic will take place on Wednesday, February 8, from 6-7 P.M. in the Sentinel High School Commons and Cafeteria areas.
