The Chief is Retiring
The chief of Missoula's police force is retiring next month.
Jaeson White came to Missoula from California in 2020 after a long career in law enforcement.
Shortly after he arrived, so did the COVID pandemic, but White wasted no time implementing ambitious plans for the department. He upgraded training, realigned staffing, created the department's first ever “Strategic Plan and Annual Report” and created a Reserve-Officer program.
Chief White also opened a new southside Police station to make it easier for patrols to cover the city and modernized the PD's use of force policy.
Mayor Jordan Hess said the city will begin a search for a new chief immediately.
